Add highlights and reading notes
Mark passages from the source, or record thoughts about the whole content separately.
Highlight a passage
Available actions depend on the content format and whether its text is selectable. A scanned-image PDF may not allow direct text selection.
- Select text in a web page or a document that supports annotations.
- Use the selection toolbar to create a highlight or add a note to the passage.
- Check the entry in the reader's notes sidebar.
Take notes without selecting text
Use Notes to add a standalone note about the whole article or document. Standalone notes have no quoted passage but remain linked to their source.
A note attached to a highlight keeps the source text alongside your interpretation. You can clear the note without deleting the highlight. Standalone notes need nonempty text to be saved.
Return to the source
Click a source or View Details in the notes list to open the related page or document and attempt to locate the saved position.
Changes to page structure, unavailable sources, or missing position data may prevent precise navigation. Keep your saved excerpts and notes.
