Control MCP access
Private content is excluded by default. You approve temporary access in the app.
What is accessible by default
MCP accesses authorized, nonarchived content on the current Mac. Private content is excluded by default and isn't unlocked just because an external tool requests it.
A search hit only identifies a candidate. Have the external tool read the actual content and keep source references so you can verify its answer.
Temporarily allow private content
An external AI tool can't approve access for you. Don't expose unrelated content just to get more search results.
- Only ask the external tool to request access when you actually need to search private content.
- In Pocketify's native permission screen, select the private folders to allow and confirm your choice.
- Temporary access lasts 15 minutes and can be revoked early in the app. Stopping the service ends this access.
Content sent to external tools
When an external client reads content through MCP, it enters that client's workflow. Whether it is then sent to a model service depends on the tool's settings and your actions.
A local connection doesn't mean all later processing stays local. For sensitive work or personal content, check how the external tool handles it before choosing what to share.
