Switch reading modes
Switch between the original page and extracted text, and adjust reading appearance.
Original page and reading mode
After opening a saved page, use reading mode to read its extracted text. Switch back to the original page for its layout or interactive content.
On Mac, “A” in the web toolbar opens reading mode, and the globe in reading mode returns to the web page. Some pages don't yield suitable text; you can still browse the original.
Adjust the reading text
Open reading settings in reading mode and choose available content themes, fonts, and layout options to make long articles easier to read.
The content theme is independent of app appearance. The notes sidebar, find bar, and selection toolbar follow the app theme; original images and your highlights keep their colors.
Check before going offline
Saved text and cached resources can be read later, but not every page resource is fully preserved. Videos, interactive elements, and online source content may still need a connection.
Before reading offline, open the article on your device and check that the text and needed resources are available. Saving a link isn't a permanent backup of an entire site.
